Spider-Man Remastered has always been one of the better-running AAA games on the Steam Deck, but its FSR implementation was famously borked. Turning on the in-game FSR caused horrible visual artifacting and muddy visuals. This was unfortunate for those playing on budget-grade hardware like the Steam Deck, since we couldn’t benefit from the performance boost that FSR is meant to give you.
Luckily, the October 30 patch has improved performance and all but eliminated the FSR issues that plagued the port. If you last played before the patch dropped, jump back in and enjoy the extra frames per second!
Simply put: hit Play and start beating up bad guys. No custom Proton settings or special setting up are required.
Balanced Settings (720p@40fps | ~1h45m)
The Steam Deck can’t reliably hit 60 frames per second, so these settings are aiming for a more manageable target framerate of 40 fps. Thankfully, the multitude of performance patches that have dropped since the game’s launch make a stable 40 fps an attainable goal for the Steam Deck. By dropping the resolution and leaning on the improved FSR 2.1 implementation, we can get away with mostly medium settings without sacrificing frame times.
Battery life is never going to be great in a game this demanding, so keep a power bank handy or ensure never to take your web-slinging exploits too far from a power source.
