UMA Frame Buffer Size 4G

The 1.2 update has been a game-changer for “Grounded” on the Steam Deck, as it effectively addressed numerous issues and crashes that had been a source of frustration in previous versions. Thanks to this update, you can now dive into the game right from the get-go without the need for any further compatibility tweaking or adjustments. It’s an exciting development that ensures a smoother and more enjoyable Grounded experience on Valve’s handheld gaming device.

Also, consider going into the BIOS to increase the UMA Frame Buffer Size to 4G. This can help with open-world games that do a lot of texture streaming, like Grounded.

Recommended — Medium Settings (Native@40fps | ~2h15m)

Grounded doesn’t give you many options to tweak the performance in-game, so we’re limited with what we can do with visuals. The Deck struggles to maintain a stable 60 frames per second on all but the lowest settings, but we can get a stable 40 fps on the Medium preset. It looks great in motion, especially on the Deck’s 7-inch screen.

Even on the Low preset, Grounded doesn’t quite hit 60 frames per second consistently. To get there, we’ll have to lower the resolution and activate AMD FSR. Thankfully, Grounded does have in-game FSR, so we won’t have to rely on the SteamOS implementation (remember to the Steam Deck’s FSR off when you have it on in a game!).

Honestly, it doesn’t look great. Still, if framerate matters more to you than graphics fidelity, this isn’t half bad.
