Halls of Torment Best Steam Deck Settings
Compatibility Settings | |
---|---|
Proton Version | Default |
Halls of Torment runs beautifully out of the box, but it’s not quite a perfect Steam Deck experience. There’s currently no support for resolutions in the 16:10 aspect ratio, resulting in annoying black bands on the top and bottom of the screen, and the text can be a bit hard to read. And, as is the case with many games in this genre, performance can drop severely in the later stages of a level. We’ve even seen framerates fall to the mid-20s as the screen fills up. Overall, Halls of Torment is still a great fit for the Deck, where its pick-up-and-play gameplay can really shine.
Max Battery Life Settings (Native@60fps | ~4h)
Halls of Torment’s retro art style is very light on the Steam Deck’s APU. You can expect 60 frames per second for most of the gameplay, except as a stage nears its end, where you’ll see significant drops. Thankfully, the game remains responsive even as the framerate tanks, so it shouldn’t really affect gameplay too much.
The game’s settings don’t give us a lot of options to tinker with, so these settings will focus on getting the most possible battery life out of your Steam Deck. With these settings, you can get well over 4 hours of play time on a single charge.
Also, don’t turn on Performance Mode. It makes everything on screen blurry and hard to read.
