STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor™ is a terrible experience out of the box. There’s the annoying EA launcher, which requires being constantly logged into EA’s servers. The game itself suffers from texture streaming problems, delayed LOD transitions, and is prone to crashing.

Thankfully, we can fix a lot of these issues. But it will take some work.

The first thing you have to do is go into the Steam Deck BIOS and increase your device’s UMA Frame Buffer Size to 4G. This game has massive textures and absolutely requires this tweak to reduce the microstutters caused by constant texture streaming.

The next step is to download CryoByte’s CryoUtilities 2.0. This is an incredible community tool that helps improve overall performance stability in most games, but it’s absolutely required for STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor™. Once installed, just run the option that automatically configures your system to CryoByte’s recommended settings. The two settings we’re specifically looking to benefit from are Swappiness and Swap File Size.

Unfortunately, if have a 64GB Steam Deck model, you can’t really touch the Swap File Size. And since the game is so large, you’re probably trying to run it on a microSD, which will only exacerbate the texture streaming and loading problems. We hate to say it, but you probably shouldn’t try playing STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor™ on your device right now.

Balanced Settings (Native@30fps | ~1h30m)

These settings will get you the best STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor™ performance possible on the Steam Deck. It’s not a perfect experience by any measure, but the game is certainly playable. Just keep your expectations tempered, and don’t hope for anything higher than 30 frames per second at mostly low to medium settings.
